The 2020 Yamaha MT-15 has been recently unveiled by the brand at an event in Chennai. The updated variant of the motorcycle features a BS6-compliant engine in addition to getting minor cosmetic changes.
The motorcycle is expected to go on sale in the Indian market by February 2020 while one can expect the brand to offer it a price hike of around INR 4000-INR 5000 over the last-gen model which is currently available in the market at a price tag of INR 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom).
In addition to the updated MT-15, the brand has also unveiled its 125cc scooter range which includes the Fascino 125 and the Ray ZR 125. The latter has been further revealed in a standard as well as Street Rally variant which can be distinguished via the different design language and graphics alterations.
One of the most noticeable updates on the 2020 Yamaha MT-15 includes the addition of an all-new ‘Ice Fluo Vermillion’ colour scheme which is a combination of glossy white body panels with neon orange alloy wheels. The all-new colour variant will exist in parallel to the previous-gen blue and black colours of the motorcycle.
Coming to the other updates, the motorcycle has been equipped with a side-stand engine cut-off switch in addition to receiving a revised LED taillight setup. The brand has further offered the motorcycle with a radial tyre at the rear which measures 140mm. Apart from this, the BS6 Yamaha MT-15 continues to feature a single-channel ABS as standard.
The updated motorcycle will continue to be powered by the 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that also powers the 2020 Yamaha R15 V3. Though the updated power and torque figures of the BS6-compliant MT-15 have not been revealed as of yet, one can expect the motorcycle to churn out a maximum power of 18.3HP and a peak torque of 14.1Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Once launched in India, the BS6 Yamaha MT-15 will be competing in the market with the likes of KTM Duke 125, Bajaj Pulsar NS200, and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
