New 500cc Honda Scrambler Motorcycle Makes Official Debut

The new Transalp adventure bike is getting most of the attention right now. But Honda’s EICMA booth also featured a few other important new models. The CL500 Scrambler has finally been revealed to the public.

The high-mounted double-exhaust exits, tank pads, and fork gaiters help it live up to the scrambler moniker. All-LED lighting, a digital LCD instrument console, and dual-channel ABS are the highlighted features.

Honda’s 471cc parallel-twin engine will also power the recently unveiled CL500 Scrambler. Honda has altered the ECU maps to better suit the bike’s personality. This engine generates a max power of 46.6hp and a peak torque of 43.4 Nm. This is less power and more torque than the CB500X that is sold in India.

The main frame looks like the Rebel 500 and the suspension travel is identical to the CB500X. A 41mm telescopic fork and preload-adjustable twin shock absorbers are included in the hardware. CL lacks the upside-down Showa SFF-BP fork that several other Honda 500s have recently received. It also has a single front brake disc, whereas the CB500X and CB500F received dual-disc brakes earlier this year.

A 19-inch/17-inch alloy wheel setup and block pattern Dunlop Mixtour tyres add to the off-road cred. Due to the limited suspension travel and ground clearance (155mm), this bike will almost be limited to light off-roading.
