KTM India recently increased the prices for its complete lineup. The entry level Duke 200 now costs INR 1,47,563 while Duke 250 comes with INR 1,77,424 of price tag. RC 200 now costs INR 1,76,527 while Duke 390 and RC 390 are placed at INR 2,26,358 and INR 2,31,097. The increase in price now falls between INR 4,063 to INR 5,797.
This may annoy many KTM fans who thought performance could now be bought with a good deal. The recent talk of bikes above 350cc getting expensive under the GST implementation was clearly void in this case as one (Duke 390) gets INR 600 price increase while other (RC 390) got around INR 5,800 of price hike.

The major parts in both 390 Duke and 250 Duke are the same (referring to frame, body panels) and rising cost of just one is pretty suspicious. They have launched the KTM 200 Duke with just INR 500 of hike to stay away from criticism but soon after, the rise of INR 4,000 makes it feel even more overpriced against segment bikes like FZ25 and Dominar 400.
KTM 200 Duke is also listed quite heavier than its older BS3 version, witnessing a straight increase of 12 kg. It now weighs 148 kg and produces the same 25 PS and 19.2 Nm. The change in price again frames RC 390 as the flagship motorcycle of KTM. KTM 250 Duke was an excellent product at INR 1.73 lakh.The increase in price will even bring bigger insurance premium and registration cost will also go up for the same.
The price difference between the FZ25 and Duke 250 now feels beyond expectations as both perform equally well. The former costs INR 1.20 lakh while Duke need extra INR 57,000 for the same results. The most disappointing thing is that Duke 200 and Duke 250 are being sold in India without ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), which is a must-have safety feature in these type of performance-centric motorcycles.
