2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan to Get Switchable ABS

According to recent reports, the 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan will be getting a switchable ABS unit as standard though there is no confirmation whether it can be completely turned off or can be only disabled for the rear wheel. Apart from this, the brand is also expected to offer the 2020 variant of the adventure motorcycle with multiple colour options in addition to offering a BS6-compliant engine.

The motorcycle was recently showcased in three new colour variants at the Thai Motor Show 2019 namely: Gravel Grey, Rock Red and Lake Blue. The gravel grey colour variant features matte grey detailing mated to blackened-out motorcycle components while the rock red and lake blue variants feature glossy profile mated to matching frame guards. The present-gen Himalayan is available in India in three colour options namely: Snow, Granite, and Sleet.

The brand has not yet revealed the details regarding the engine of the 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan though one can expect the BS6-compliant engine to get a different set of power and torque figures to some extent. The brand will also be updating the semi-digital console of the current-gen motorcycle with some new features, though there is no confirmation as of yet.

Powering the current-gen Himalayan variant is a BS4-compliant 411cc, single-cylinder engine that is capable to generate a maximum power of 24.5HP @ 6500 rpm and a peak torque of 32Nm @ 4250-4500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

The suspension duties on the BS6-compliant 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan will be handled by the same conventional telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock absorber at the rear. The braking will be handled by disc brakes at either side mated to switchable dual-channel ABS as standard. One can expect the brand to launch the BS6-compliant variant of the Himalayan sometime in early 2020.
