1155 units of Yamaha R3 are to be recalled in India as the company suspects fault in its fuel tank brackets and main switch assembly. The effected bikes were manufactured in 2015 and 2016 while this is the second issue with the motorcycle in India. Yamaha R3 was earlier recalled due to oil pump and clutch pressure plate assembly issues. For the current issues, there have been no registered complaints of the company side yet.

According to Yamaha, the faulty fuel tank brackets might led to a crack in the fuel tank due to the vibrations on the motorcycle. This can result in fuel leakage and further problems with the motorcycle. Secondly, the faulty switch can result in problems regarding ignition as they can get corroded due to water. Yamaha R3 owners can enter their chassis number on the Yamaha website to check whether their motorcycle is affected or safe.
Yamaha has witnessed the same problem in the USA spec R3 while they will replace the parts at no extra cost in India. Yamaha R3 is the only model that is brought via CKD platform and stands effectively at INR 3,26,000. The 321 cc, twin cylinder motorcycle is good for 41.4 BHP and 29.6 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and claims a top speed of 188 kmph. Yamaha R3 even has a 0-100 kmph sprint time of under 6 seconds.
