The updated BS6 model of the Yamaha MT-15 was officially unveiled on December 19 last year while the launch is most likely to happen next month. Ahead of the launch, the power figure of the 2020 BS6 Yamaha MT-15 has surfaced online. Like the BS6 model of the R15 V3, the MT-15 has also experienced a slight drop in the maximum power value, which now stands at 18.3HP @ 10,000 rpm.
In comparison, the BS4 model of the Yamaha MT-15 is good for a maximum power output of 19.3HP @ 10,000 rpm. There is no word on the maximum torque value though, it is also expected to get a slight drop like the BS6 R15 V3, which generates 14.1Nm of maximum torque at 8,500 rpm.
One of the most noticeable updates on the 2020 Yamaha MT-15 includes the addition of an all-new ‘Ice Fluo Vermillion’ colour scheme which is a combination of glossy white body panels with neon orange alloy wheels.
Coming to the other updates, the motorcycle has been equipped with a side-stand engine cut-off switch in addition to receiving a revised LED taillight setup. The brand has further offered the motorcycle with a radial tyre at the rear which measures 140mm. Apart from this, the BS6 Yamaha MT-15 continues to feature a single-channel ABS as standard.
The suspension duties on the motorcycle continue to be handled by telescopic forks at the front while the rear has been equipped with a monoshock unit. Like the BS4 model, the 2020 BS6 Yamaha MT-15 features disc brakes at either end mated to a single-channel ABS unit as standard.
The motorcycle is expected to go on sale in the Indian market next month while one can expect the brand to offer it a price hike of around INR 4000 to INR 5000 over the BS4 model which is currently available in the market at a price tag of INR 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom).
