BS6 Yamaha R15 V3 and FZ Series Technical Specifications Leaked

According to a recent report by IAB, the technical specifications of the BS6 Yamaha FZ series and the R15 V3 have leaked online. The introduction of the BS6-compliant engine for the most desired Yamaha motorcycles in the country will lead to a slight reduction in the performance as the maximum power figure of both the bikes has been reduced by 1HP.

As per the leaked documents, the BS6-compliant 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 2-valve, SOHC engine powering the Yamaha FZ series is now capable of generating a maximum power figure of 12.2HP while the BS4 engine equipped on the current-gen variant offers a maximum power of 13.2HP. The engine remains mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Apart from the change in power figure, the motorcycle is expected to remain cosmetically unchanged. The BS6 Yamaha FZ series continues to measure 1,990mm in length, 780mm in width and 1,080mm in height. The ground clearance of 165mm and the seat height of 790mm also remains the same. Both the Yamaha FZ V3 and FZS V3 continues to feature the LED headlight setup upfront in addition to an LCD instrument panel.

Coming to the BS6-compliant Yamaha YZF-R15 V3, the motorcycle is powered by the same 155.1cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve, Fi, single-cylinder engine with VVA technology. The updated BS6 version of the engine is now capable of generating a maximum power figure of 18.3HP as compared to 19.3HP offered by the present-gen BS4 variant. The engine remains mated to a 6-speed transmission.

Apart from the changes to the engine, the BS6 Yamaha R15 V3 retains all of its current-gen bits. It measures 1,990mm long, 725mm wide and 1,135 tall while the seat height and ground clearance stand at 815mm and 170mm respectively. In addition to this, the standard feature list available on the present-gen BS4 Yamaha R15 V3 remains identical for the BS6-compliant R15 variant.

The reports suggest that the brand will roll out the new BS6-compliant models of its motorcycles starting from November this year. One can expect the new engine variants to get an increased price tag by 10%-15%. Presently, the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 is available in India at a price tag of INR 1,40,880 while the Yamaha FZ gets a price tag of INR 96,680 and Yamaha FZS retails at INR 98,680 (ex-showroom).
