Yamaha is all set to unveil the updated version of the MT-125 in the coming days. The next-gen model of the Yamaha MT-125 has been officially teased by the brand on its social media channels. Scheduled to make its presence known on October 16, the upcoming Yamaha motorcycle features a cat-eye signature headlight setup though the brand has not officially revealed its identity as of yet. Since the Yamaha MT-125 is already available in the European markets since long, one can expect the brand to unveil the motorcycle with a host of new updates that will set it apart from its current-gen variant.
In addition to this, the upcoming 2020 variant of the MT-125 will get the same underpinnings as that of the MT-15 available in the Indian market though, the engine will be borrowed from the Yamaha YZF-R125 sportbike.
The 2020 Yamaha MT-125 will feature a 125cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 15HP and a peak torque of 12.4 Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission. The suspension duties on the motorcycle will be handled by USD telescopic forks at the front while the rear will feature an adjustable monoshock unit.
The motorcycle will feature disc brakes at either end while being mated to dual-channel ABS as standard. In addition to these, the upcoming MT-125 will get a full LED light setup upfront with a fully digital instrument panel and lightweight frame to offer mighty performance.
Since the updated Yamaha MT-125 is expected to be launched in Europe primarily, the brand may launch the motorcycle in India in the coming months though, the chances remain thin. If and when launched in India, the motorcycle is expected to compete in the market with the likes of KTM Duke 125.
