Yamaha NMAX 155 Premium Scooter India Launch Possible in 2020

Yamaha NMAX 155 Premium Scooter India Launch Possible

Yamaha NMAX 155 is expected to launch in India next year, hinting at plans from the brand to share the popular 155.1cc engine among two different platforms. The jump from 110cc segment to the bigger one clears that Yamaha is not interested in making big numbers out of this product.

The brand is currently present in the highest-selling segment and introducing NMAX 155 will help them define a new level of refinement for the sporty scooter section with just Aprilia as the rival. Yamaha will most probably keep all the features intact like the fuel injection and liquid cooling along with the variable valve actuation (VVA) technology.

As the Indian government has made it mandatory for manufacturers to equip their products with ABS above 125cc segment, the 155cc NMAX will definitely cost higher than expectations. If we talk about Yamaha’s 113cc scooter lineup, all options are under the CBS mandatory section and the brand recently introduced UBS (Unified Braking System) in all of its scooters available in India. The Yamaha NMAX 155 will most probably get a 1-channel ABS unit like the FZ, FZS, and the MT-15.

Suzuki Burgman 125 comes with almost similar looks but the size and list of features will keep both the scooters generations apart from each other. The Yamaha NMAX 155 features bigger tires, more power, and practical front fascia with huge visor for wind protection. The handlebar will be independent of the console section, offering a faired motorcycle feel through the new NMAX 155.

The 155.1cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine on the premium scooter has been tuned for lower output, generating 14.8 HP of maximum power and 14.4 Nm of maximum torque. The Yamaha NMAX is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1 lakh in India while the brand may launch the scooter at the Auto Expo in February 2020.
