Yamaha to Launch New Premium Sportbikes and Scooters in India

New Premium Yamaha Sportbikes & Scooters are Coming: Back in 2019, Yamaha Motor India made their views on the ongoing sales pattern public by clearing the fact that they will need more new premium products to keep up with their target of selling 1.20 million units in India by the end of this year.

The brand discontinued its 100cc-125cc motorcycles last year as most fans of Yamaha prefer going for bigger displacement options like the R15, FZS, MT-15, R3, and the FZ25. The Yamaha manufacturing plant will reach the maximum production capacity this year with around 1.50 million units for both the Indian as well as offshore markets.

The scooter market is growing competitive with time and Yamaha is planning to introduce new and improved products to take on the market share that has been lost with no new product introduction in the premium 150cc scooter segment.

Yamaha N-MAX and Aerox scooters are powered by the R15 V3-sourced 155cc engine, leaving the brand with the option of bringing the premium scooters that can take on the fans of Piaggio Vespa series and the 160cc Aprilia scooters in India.

However, Yamaha will place their 150cc premium scooters at a higher price point as including best-in-class and high-tech features will definitely demand a bigger price tag. The Aerox and NMAX scooters are expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1 lakh in India.

Yamaha Aerox 155

The breakdown of local sales of Yamaha Motor India confirms that they wish to add a big chunk of buyers to their side and take the monthly sales figure to a higher 1 lakh unit mark in the coming months. The brand recently also launched 125cc Fascino and Ray ZR scooters in India.

The most powerful way to drive the new generation of buyers is to launch new 150cc premium scooters while those looking for performance-centric bikes can wait for the new-gen models of the Yamaha MT-03 and YZF-R3 to enter the Indian market.

New Yamaha R3

Before being discontinued, the last-gen model of the Yamaha YZF-R3 was available in India with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 3.52 lakhs while the new model is expected to get a price jump of around INR 20,000. As far as the MT-03 is concerned, it will be priced around INR 3.30 lakhs (ex-showroom). Both sportbikes are expected to launch in India by the mid of this year.

New Yamaha MT-03

The MT-15 has once again proved that people love Yamaha streetfighters and premium pricing may not be an issue for many around the country. As per one of the recent updates, the brand is also planning to launch the much-talked-about XSR155 in the Indian market later this year,
