Yamaha R15 V3 ABS has been launched in India for INR 1.39 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The R15 V3 ABS was first seen testing last year near Surajpur, Greater Noida. Yamaha is taking a premium of INR 12,000 for the dual channel ABS and the first units are already on the way to the dealerships. The price hike is comparable to all other brands that charge around INR 10,000-14,000 for the safety feature. Apart from the ABS, no other feature was added or removed from the motorcycle.
Yamaha earlier offered ABS in R1, MT-09, and R3, all three available as CBU or CKD in the country. The local lineup, consisting of R15-S, FZ25, Fazer 25, FZ-S, Fazer and SZ-RR, are all eligible for mandatory ABS fitment before April 1, 2019. All of them are 125cc+ motorcycles, leaving Yamaha with no other option than looking for a system that can be more cost-effective for lower-priced bikes. They could have earlier thought of halting of certain models but now, the numbers claimed by most of them are equally profitable for the brand.
As the R15 V3 costs INR 1.39 lakh, expecting the same unit on R15-S will take the new price to INR 1.29 lakh. Yamaha R15 V3 is a premium racer with a 155.1cc, single cylinder engine, producing 19.3 HP at 10,000 rpm and 15 Nm at 8,500 rpm. It is available in Thunder Grey and Racing Blue, and both the colours look extremely impressive on the road. The brand has also launched a Darknight colour variant for the R15 V3 at INR 1.41 lakh (ex-showroom). Yamaha R15-S is powered by a 149cc engine and producing 17 HP of maximum power. Yamaha is also expected to launch the new third-generation FZ-S in India on January 21. Click here to know more about the FZS V3.
