Mahindra XUV700 Creates A New Record – Bags 1,50,000 Bookings

Mahindra’s XUV700 has been a huge success. Before Diwali last year, the company received over 70,000 bookings for its new flagship SUV, and the Mahindra XUV700 has now received 1.5 lakh bookings in just over 11 months since launch. Mahindra announced the achievement on its social media accounts.

While the company celebrates the XUV700, it reportedly still has over 1 lakh pending bookings due to the ongoing global semiconductor chip shortage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The company announced the 1.5 lakh bookings milestone via a social media post saying, “A milestone that marks our excellence. Here’s to crossing 1.5 Lakh bookings. We are grateful to all our customers for this overwhelming response.”

The new Mahindra XUV700 hit the ground running when it was released in September, quickly racking up bookings. The first batch of 25,000 bookings sold out in an hour after the order books opened on September 7, and the second batch of 25,000 units sold out in two hours after the order books reopened the following month.

Within four months of launch, the 1 lakh mark was reached, sending waiting times skyrocketing. Mahindra’s new mid-sizer is available with two petrol and diesel engines across two model lines: The MX series is the most basic, while the AX (AdrenoX) series is the most advanced, with three rows of seating, automatic transmission options, and all-wheel drive.

The SUV’s petrol variants are powered by Mahindra’s new 2.0-litre in all variants of the Stallion turbo-petrol engine produces 197 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. In terms of diesel engines, the SUV employs Mahindra’s 2.2-litre four-cylinder m Hawk turbo-diesel unit with 153 bhp and 360 Nm in the MX series and a stronger 182 hp and 420 Nm (with manual gearbox) or 450 Nm (when paired with automatic) in the AX series.
