New Citroen C3 (C21) Compact SUV Coming to India Next Year

Citroen has announced that the C21 compact SUV would make its debut in India next year. It has begun expanding its sales and servicing network in preparation for the release of this mass-market product. The upcoming model will be manufactured in India and includes extensive localization. This new compact SUV, which is likely to be named Citroen C3 Sporty, has recently been unveiled in the guise of a promotional scale model.

The new Citroen C3, codenamed C21 internally, is the first vehicle in the French brand’s multi-model C-Cubed project, which was revealed earlier this year. Cars produced for growing markets such as India and South America will be covered by this project. The SUV will be designed and manufactured on the CMP (Common Modular Platform). It’s essentially a stripped-down version of Peugeot’s CMP platform, which underpins the 208 hatchback series. This platform is adaptable to a variety of body designs, including SUVs, sedans, and hatchbacks. Furthermore, the platform is adaptable with a variety of powertrains, including hybrid, petrol, and electric.

As per the details revealed by the scale model pictures of the car, the carmaker has carried over its quirky and distinctive style on the forthcoming small SUV. The brand’s emblem is finished in chrome and blends with the design of the split headlights on the front fascia. On the rear of this all-new model, there are wraparound taillights and a silverish skid plate. The upcoming compact SUV’s sporty appearance is enhanced by the stylish alloy wheels, roof-rails, dual-tone roof, blacked-out door pillars, and all-around body cladding.

The Citroen C3 Sporty is going to be driven by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 5-speed manual transmission that will comply with the BS6 emission norms and the engine might be available in both normally aspirated and turbocharged versions. According to the earlier reports, the upcoming SUV doesn’t have the diesel engine option, and once it is launched, it will compete against the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, and the Ford EcoSport.
