Renault Kiger SUV Officially Revealed in India: Renault has officially unveiled the production version of the much-anticipated Kiger compact SUV today. The car is based on the CMF-A+ platform that has been co-developed by Renault and Nissan. Kiger is basically Renault’s version of the Nissan Magnite.
As promised by the brand, Kiger features close to 80% of the design theme that was showcased in the concept version of the SUV. The car has been developed specifically for the Indian markets and it will be manufactured at the brand’s Tamil Nadu facility.
Renault Kiger compact SUV has been imparted a futuristic and clean design language. Some of the key highlights of the design include the signature Renault grille, split LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a roof-mounted spoiler, diamond-cut alloy wheels, C-shaped LED taillights, roof rails, and a rear skid plate.
Coming to the interiors, Renault Kiger sports an all-black theme and the top-spec variant of the compact SUV will come equipped with loads of comfort and convenience features. The list of key features includes an 8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument console, climate control system, engine start-stop system, steering mounted controls, Arkamays 3D sound system, wireless charging, and rear AC vents with a 12-volt charging slot.
In terms of capacities and dimensions, the boot capacity of the Renault Kiger compact SUV stands at 405-litres while the ground clearance stands at 205mm. Mechanically, the brand has confirmed that Kiger would be available with a 1.0-litre petrol engine with two states of tune.
Like Nissan Magnite, the turbocharged version would be good for 100 HP of maximum power and 160 Nm of peak torque, while the naturally-aspirated version would be good for 72 HP and 96 Nm. The engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the customers would also be getting option for an AMT as well as a CVT. Kiger will also come with three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport.
Renault Kiger is expected to launch in India by the mid of this year while the prices are expected to start from around INR 5.50 lakhs (ex-showroom). Once launched, the compact SUV would be competing with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Nissan Magnite.
