According to recent reports, the Toyota-Badged Maruti Suzuki Brezza that is expected to be launched sometime soon is going to be christened by the brand as Urban Cruiser. The Toyota Urban Cruiser was already available in the developed markets before though the brand had offered the subcompact SUV a much softer profile.
The word “Urban Cruiser” has been drawn from the brand’s existing and very famous SUVs like Toyota Land Cruiser and Land Cruiser Prado that have been a cherished part of the brand’s lineage. Coming to the design language of the rebadged Maruti Brezza that will launch as the Toyota Urban Cruiser, one can expect the SUV to feature a few exterior changes such as a redesigned front grille while featuring a Toyota badging, just like Toyota Glanza is a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback.
The brand already had the trademarks like ‘Toyota Urban Cruiser’ and ‘Urban Cruiser’ registered under its name which is expected to be offered to the rebadged SUV without any conflict. Powering the Toyota Urban Cruiser will be the same K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine equipped on the BS6 model of the Maruti Vitara Brezza that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 105 HP at 4,400 rpm and a peak torque of 138 Nm at 6,000 rpm.
The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while the 4-speed automatic gearbox will also be available as an option. The interior of the rebadged SUV is also expected to feature similar bits and pieces just like the donor model that features the latest touchscreen infotainment unit as well as multiple other premium features.
The upcoming rebadged SUV from Toyota will be based on the facelifted Maruti Vitara Brezza that was showcased by the brand at the Auto Expo 2020. The brand is further expected to offer the Urban Cruiser an interesting safety package in addition to offering effective warranty schemes so as to make it more attractive to the customers just like the Toyota Glanza.
