Hero Motocorp is now listed among electric scooters but with a different brand name as they cannot launch EVs under their brand. The new electric scooter is expected to be launched in March 2022, complementing Hero MotoCorp’s sub-brand Vida. It was developed and designed in the company’s research and development centre in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Vida’s main focus for sales will be in the Indian EV market. Apart from that, they are also planning for sales in the global EV markets as well.
Recently, Hero MotoCorp, in collaboration with Taiwan-based brand Gogoro, is planning to implement a battery swapping technology for the scooters, and soon the company will launch its first-ever EVs with the privilege of removable batteries. This technology is futuristic and time-saving. Gogoro and Hero Motocorp joined forces and launched a new face in the world of electric vehicles, which they named Vida.
Reports suggest that Hero filed applications for the ownership of the following titles: Vida Electric, Vida EV, Vida Mobility, Vida MotoCorp, Vida Motorcycles, and Vida Scooters. The scooters are expected to look similar to Gogoro’s electric scooters but with pro features that include Bluetooth, navigation, phone calls, and SMS alerts with a digital metre console. The scooter will carry an LED headlamp and a taillight on the front and rear, respectively. This new electric scooter with battery-replacing technology is kind of futuristic.
As the model is hi-tech, it is expected that it might pose a challenge to some premium electric scooters in India, like the Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube. Currently, they are planning to launch scooters, but it looks like Hero MotoCorp is also developing an electric bike that could be launched months after the arrival of the brand’s first electric scooter.
