Bajaj Dominar had a good start and sold 3,000 units of the motorcycle in January 2017. The news comes from the interview of Rajiv Bajaj with Money Control. The flagship Bajaj bike was launched in December 2017 while its deliveries started in the first month of 2017. Bajaj Dominar 400’s production will be raised to 6,000 units before April and the waiting period for the same will be eliminated. Dominar 400 starts from INR 1,36,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
3000 Units of Bajaj Dominar 400 Sold in January 2017
Rajiv Bajaj said: “I can tell you that every single vehicle of the 3,000 we made in January was sold out. Of course at this stage we have a waiting period but that is bound to be the case at this point in the game. We are looking at about 4,000 vehicles this month and we can push production gently but cautiously to about 6,000 next month. However, remember that 6,000 a month is where Royal Enfield was in 2012. So we have caught up quite a bit.”
Bajaj aims to sell 10,000 units for Dominar in the coming months. The number will include the export values for the motorcycle. Dominar 400 is powered by a 373.2 cc, single cylinder engine that is good for 35 PS of maximum power and 35 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch and claims a top speed of 148 kmph. Bajaj even offers dual channel ABS on the higher spec model.
The motorcycle weighs 182 kg and rivals Mahindra Mojo, KTM 390 Duke and upcoming BMW G310R in India. It uses a 13 liter fuel tank while returning a mileage of around 30 kmpl in daily driving. Bajaj brought conventional 43 mm telescopic forks and full LED headlamp for better placement of the Dominar 400 among its rivals. It uses 110/70-17 front and 150/60-17 rear wheel for optimum traction level.
